Tips for Embracing Active STEM Learning
  • Give time for youth to explore further and build on the STEM learning taking place during the activity.
  • STEM learning is messy. Allow for youth – and perhaps your facility - to get messy. Or, go outside and do STEM!
  • Allow youth to direct the learning and exploration. Try not to tell youth the answers, let them find it out themselves!
  • Provide a hands-on learning experience.
  • Build on interest and engagement in the activity. For example, keep asking open ended questions and allow youth to explore the materials after they express curiosity in the activity.
