Like A Real Engineer!
What happens when youth challenge a group of engineers to complete the STEM activity they did in their program! Listen as the engineers go through the same problem solving steps and align real-world engineering strategies to the challenge they have in building and designing vehicles. Youth see the connection of their activity to the what a real engineer is doing.
Research suggests: The combination of the STEM activity and positive role models in the field enhanced the development of a STEM identity in youth, as they could see themselves as someone who was interested in STEM and had the potential to be a legitimate participant in STEM careers (Research in Science Education).
